Obiturary of Arthur J. Tierney .......from...Democrat & Chronicle Feb. 6, 1962
Last rites for Arthur J. Tierney, 68, a grocer in Rochester more than half a century will be held @ 8:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Mattle Funeral Home, 853 Culver Road, and at 9 a.m. @ Saint James Church. Mr. Tierney died in his home, 669 Melville St. Sunday Feb. 4, 1962
From about 1900 to 1940 Mr. Tierney helped operate the Tierney Market Co. @ 312 North Street. His 3 brothers, Raymond J., Walter L. and the late Joseph B. Tierney & a sister Elizabeth were in the business with him. After the family closed he North St. Store, Arthur Tierney operated a retail grocery & meat market @ Arnett Boulevard & Woodbine Avenue untill he retired in 1956. He was a life member of the Holy Name Society of St. James Church. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

ARTHUR TIERNEY, 68; RETIRED GROCER
Arthur J. Tierney, 68, of 669 Melville St. widely known grocer here for many years, died unexpectedly last night (Feb. 4, 1962) in his home.
Mr. Tierney and three brothers, Raymond J., Walter L. and the late Joseph B. Tierney, operated the Tierney Market Co., 312 North St from about 1900 to 1940.
After the family closed the North Street store, Mr. Tierney operated a retail grocery and meat market at the corner of Arnett Boulevard and Woodbine Avenue. He retired in 1956.
