DEATH: EMMETT WALSH:
Emmett W. Walsh, 56 of 124 Alsace St. Manchester died at his residence, Tuesday morning, after a long illness. He was born in Manchester, the son of Mrs. Elizabeth (Moher) Walsh and the late Richard J. walsh Sr. and was a lifelong resident of the city. He attended local schools and was a vetran of World War II, serving with the US Naval Amphibious Forces. He was a member of Henry J. Sweeney Post 2 American Legion.
Mr. Walsh had been employed by the City of Manchester for the past 12 years, first with the Traffic Meter Dept. and more recently, as a sign painter in the Highway Traffic Dept. He was previously the owner of Walsh Signs for many years. Members of the family include his wife, Mrs. Adrienne (Duval) Paquette Walsh; his mother, Mrs. Richard J. (Elizabeth) Walsh Sr.; a sister, Mrs. John (Mary) Ganley; three brothers, Richard J. Walsh Jr., Francis J. Walsh and Kenneth R. walsh, all of Manchester; also an uncle, the Rev. Robert Moher of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Portchester, NY: nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mr. Walsh's funeral will be held Friday morning at 9:15 from the J. Robert Devine Funeral Home, 754 Chestnut St., corner of North Street, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 10 in St. Jean the BaptistChurch. The Rev. Robert Moher will be the celebrant of the mass. Burial will be in the new St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home this evening from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
