This is where Spring comes from. We found the source. All that moist green stuff comes out of this low lying area in Spring Valley.

  1. Hi Paul!

I’m glad you found where spring comes from. I was having trouble finding your address so am contacting you by this channel to say that what I found last week was a DEER TICK stuck to me. In March! This is sad news for those of us who like to ramble, run or sketch out in nature. I’d been predicting a big increase this year in deer ticks / Lyme disease in Monroe County, but I had no idea they were active in March. I’m telling my outdoor friends.

I recommend checking the Lyme Disease Foundation website proactively and – alas – being careful about where you go. Or at least checking well when you come back. Lyme disease is probably not prevalent enough in this area to warrant total paranoia, but it is not a good thing to catch.

    Best,
    Jim

  2. We found one on our son last week as well. Luckily the preliminary blood tests were negative for lyme. We were advised to liberally cover our bodies and clothing with deep woods off – all the time. It’s the downside of living in the woods!
